Driving from the Departure Bay Ferry Terminal:
Upon leaving the Departure Bay terminal there will be a set of traffic lights. Go straight and follow Stewart Avenue until it meets Highway #1/Trans Canada Highway, a lighted "T" intersection. Turn left onto Highway #1 (towards Victoria) and travel through Nanaimo for approximately 38kms. The road passes through Ladysmith and later, the outskirts of Chemainus. At Henry Road, a lighted intersection, turn left from the Trans Canada Highway and follow the road to the bottom of the hill and the Hotel. Distance calculator link.

Driving from Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal

The Victoria Ferry Terminal is approximately 147kms to the Chemainus Festival Inn. Following Hwy #17 to Victoria but then take exit #7 to Mackenzie Ave. Once on Mackenzie Ave, drive north in the direction of Nanaimo. Follow Hwy #1/Trans Canada Highway through Duncan to the outskirts of Chemainus. At Henry Road, a lighted intersection, turn right onto Henry Rd and follow it down the hill to the hotel.

The Nanaimo Airport is parallel to the Trans Canada Hwy (Hwy #1). Driving out of the parking lot, turn left on to the Trans Canada Hwy and travel south to Victoria. Driving for approximately 23kms, the road passes through Ladysmith and later, the outskirts of Chemainus. At Henry Road, a lighted intersection, turn left from the Trans Canada Highway and follow the road to the bottom of the hill and the Hotel.

Driving from the Duke Point Ferry Terminal

The Duke Point terminal exists directly on to Highway #19. Follow the highway signs south to Victoria; stay to the left. Highway #19 ends and intersects with the Trans Canada Highway (Hwy #1). Travel south to Chemainus for approximately 30kms and, at the outskirts of Chemainus, turn left onto Henry Road (a lighted intersection) and follow the road down the hill to the entrance of the Hotel.

"Tsa-meeun-is" (Broken Chest).
Legend says that the man survived a massive wound in his chest to become a powerful chief.
